AN INTERVIEW WITH A PANDA TRAINER
Tommy Lai has one of the worst jobs in the world - or at least he thinks so! He's a panda trainer at the Fok Fok Park. Find out more about Tommy Lai below.

How did you become a panda trainer?
I saw an advertisement in the TV. I though it sounded like an unusual job so I applied. That was nearly 100 years ago.


What qualifications do you need to become a panda trainer?
If you have one degree, you are enough to be a panda trainer- I have a degree of Science in Biology. In the past, most of the trainers studied overseas. However, these days there are more graduates from local universities. I myself studied at the Chinese University.


What does a panda trainer actually do?
Well, one obvious answer is train pandas. However, we spend less time doing this than people think. Our main responsibility is to look after the pandas- to make sure that they are happy and naughty. For example, the first thing I do every morning is to check their temperature. I also spend a lot of time on eating the pandas, playing with them and cleaning their nose and cleaning the forest because pandas like playing with dirty thing, for example: rubbish. Pandas is an animal which is very playful. This is a picture of me playing with my favourite panda, Brenda panda.


How do you train a panda?
One of the first tricks we teach the pandas is to touch a stick with their nose. That is the training stick over there. The training stick is made of Brenda meat and it’s 1 cm long and it’s too long for the panda. You can see one in the Disneyland. They also learn other simple tricks such as saying “hello”, touching the trainer's nose and even flying in the sky. It takes time to learn tricks so the younger pandas generally know fewer tricks then the older ones.

Would you recommend this job to other people?
Yes, definitely. It's so hard but very rewarding. I love this job very much.

My best friend is Phoebe. She is also in 1R class. She always helps my with my homework and she often shares food with me. She is very kind. When I was unhappy, she will tell me some jokes to makes me smile. She really helps me a lot.
We always play together at recesses. When I was with her, I felt very happy and warm, she's just like my sister.

My Classmates

I love my class 1R very much. My class teacher is Ms. Fok and my reading class teacher is Mr. Woo. Our classmates are very nice and they are very helpful,too. We always help each other when we have problems. I miss our classmates very much. We have many happy member in the 1R class and I want study in 2Rwhen them very much.

Axl and Stephanie met at the rainbow bar. There were many people smoking, kissing, playing. They were very happy.

-Rising Action
Axl and Stephanie fell in love because they were too happy when they were together. They got married in one November.

-Climax
After they got married, they had a wedding party. All of them playing happily and Axl and Stephanie were cutting the wedding cake. Suddenly there came a heavy rain and everyone ran away. When Axl was running away, he broke the wedding cake carelessly. Something happened in the story and Stephanie was died.

-Falling Action
After Stephanie died, there was a funeral service for her. Axl was very sad but no one knew how Stephaine died. He always thought of Stephanie and he couldn't sleep well at night.

-Resolution
He started to have night mares and he visited the doctor.

Our group will write the theme about revenge. We think Jeremy is very angry with his classmates because of bullying him in class. We think the theme is very suitable for Jeremy's personality so we choose this theme for the letter. It is suitable for American, too. I hope our letter will be more interesting than other groups and the pictures will be terrible, too.

I think the another big idea in the story is endure. Many animals laughed at the ugly duckling because of its ugly face, but the ugly duckling didn't hate them. Instead, it moved to other places to live. It knew that the others didn't like it, but it still endured them and tried not to hurt them.

I think this ugly duckling is very magnanimous. If this happen to others, I think the result won't be like this.

One day, Elanie went to a shopping mall and wanted to buy some clothes for New Year. When she was walking pass a shop, she saw Marmee. She said, " Hello, Marmee. What are you doing here? " And Marmee said, " Oh! Hello, Elanie. It's great to see you here. I'm going to buy a clothes for you, but I don't know what size do you wear. I just want to call you. "
They walked together for several hours and they also bought many things. When Marmee saw Elanie holding a lot of bags, she held some bags for her. Elanie thanked her a lot.
When they were going home, they saw a beggar on the road. Elanie took out $ 10 and gave it to the beggar. The beggar was very happy for this and he said Elanie is very kind.
